A niche market is a particular segment of the market. The idea is to focus on one particular target audience rather than a larger broad audience. With niche marketing, you can become an expert in that target market and therefore be more appealing to your target market.
I am going to dive into these various niche market examples.
These are all examples of niches that serve a unique audience and demonstrate that focusing in on a niche is the most viable way to start a profitable online business. It also increases your chance of success.
Just think about businesses around your neighborhood. How many businesses do you see that serve a niche market?
Think of the grocery business. In my area, we have Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Grocery Outlet. They all serve a different target market and appeal to their ideal customer.
Here are a few real-life examples of successful niches that are doing quite well. This should give you some inspiration too.
The modest man is a men’s fashion blog that caters to shorter men. Brock started a unique niche within the men’s fashion world that fills a need for shorter men providing tips on finding the right sizes, clothing that fits a shorter stature and how to make wise fashion choices- from grooming to choosing the right accessories.
There are certainly tons of men’s fashion blogs but he found an underserved market within an otherwise competitive market.
This angel readings niche brings in over 600k visitors per month. Not a niche just anyone thinks of.
This shows you how you can really serve a smaller unique audience and still do incredibly well.
I love this idea. This is a simple concept, offer weekly meal plans to your email inbox.
It’s a membership business model that charges just $5.00 a month. This doesn’t sound like much, but if you had just 2k subscribers, you could bring in 10k per month. Continuous residual income certainly has its appeal and can be quite lucrative.
Cassidy Tuttle is just killing it in this niche. According to Similarweb, her site is getting 430k visitors per month which equates to over 4 million per year. With affiliate products and ad revenue alone, this site earned over 200k within the past year. This site demonstrates that a small subset of a niche can still find success.
This website brings in over 700k visitors per month and the YouTube channel is approaching 4 million subscribers.
This site monetization includes revenue through products – including t-shirts and bar supplies- and YouTube.
Who would have thought this type of YouTube channel would be a hit?
This guy’s channel has over 300k subscribers and averages 52k views per day.
According to Influencer Marketing Hub, this YouTuber brings in an estimated 4k per month, and this does not include potential earnings from affiliate products or any other monetization methods.
Debbie from the Flooring girl started her blog years ago when she ran a flooring business on the east coast. Her blog focuses on flooring trends and ideas, how to maintain floors, choosing the right supplies and how to purchase floors for your home.
The blog started out as a means to offer value to her customers. Years later, she learned about how to make money from blogging and today the site is getting over 200k page views per month and making a solid income.
The first year, owners Rob and Melissa made over 42k as a part-time side hustle. Later it grew to over 100k per year.
Now they run a successful online business teaching others the ins and outs of buying and selling for a profit. This is a great example of a passion turned into profit.

This tour company located in Spain focuses on the travel foodie niche.
The company targets travelers that want to mix it up and enjoy the authentic Tapas experience of Spain. With hosts throughout the country, they offer tours in many of Spain’s popular destinations.
Tours start at $69.00 and go up to $149.00 per person.
An interesting niche that found a sweet spot within the larger travel niche. If you’re interested in the travel niche, there are many creative ways to narrow down to a more targeted market.
Scott, the founder started this business out of sheer interest in finding ways to get bargains on international flights. After initially just sending offers he found to friends and family, he got the idea to start a business.
Fast forward and now he’s got a team of passionate travelers who scour the web each day for bargain “mistake” fares. They eliminate 90% or more and send out the best deals to their 1.6 million subscribers on their email list.
It’s a subscription model business with its members willing to pay under $50.00 a year in order to potentially save hundreds of dollars on flights.
Canva is a unique online SaaS business that makes the digital design process super simple.
It eliminates the need to learn complex software tools like Photoshop, or InDesign, and allows users with no design background to design anything from logos, social media images, graphics, banners, digital ads and more.
The target market for Canva is people who have no design training, or simply people who want to be able to design efficiently, creatively and systematically.
The best part is that you can start using Canva for free! There’s no joining fee, so it’s accessible to anyone.
The main reason why Canva is unique is that it makes the design process a walk in the park. By providing access to predesigned templates, images, and graphics, you just need to ‘drag and drop’ to create beautifully designed graphics and images.
Another reason why it’s unique is that it makes designing extremely affordable. Back in the day, users would have to spend money on buying expensive design software programs, but Canva is a ‘software as a service’ solution where you only pay for what you need.
Airbnb is really a ‘one of a kind’ business, that connects hosts with living spaces and travelers who’re looking for temporary affordable accommodation.
Travelers can book a room, an apartment or a full house for a few days or weeks, via the app or website with just the click of a few buttons.
It’s unique as this business has disrupted the hospitality business. Travelers no longer need to book expensive hotel rooms, and can choose to stay with someone who’s listed their property on the Airbnb app.
It also provides an opportunity for property owners to earn some money!
It’s also unique as Airbnb has a ‘design led’ approach towards their product. Their product has one of the best interfaces a mobile app can have, and their user experience is great!
This business provides eco-friendly baby diapers to environmentally conscious parents. They also home-deliver the diapers and educate their audience about environmental issues to make them aware of the issues that they need to know about to make their parenting journey smooth.
Quite clearly, there are only a few solutions out there that provide a home-delivered and eco-friendly solution for babies. They’re also a great alternative to disposable diapers, as they last longer.
More importantly, for this business, it’s not just about the product. They’re also building an active community of engaged parents who’re interested in saving the environment, which makes parenting a fun, community-oriented process.
Mixpanel is a unique digital marketing analytics business that makes it simple for marketers to know their audience better. It empowers you by being able to analyze user behavior on your website, or app, so you can amplify what’s working, and eliminate what’s not working.

Their courses are taught by industry experts with practical knowledge and experience, as opposed to colleges and universities where courses are quite academic in nature.
They provide eco-friendly oral care products, like wooden bamboo toothbrushes and naturally tasting toothpaste. Their target market is environmentally conscious folks!
Not many businesses provide bamboo made oral care products. They are a great alternative to plastic oral products that do nothing good for the environment.
While their products may be a little pricey, they’re well worth it if you’re interested in long-lasting, eco-friendly products.
A very unique business that provides care to lonely souls out there by giving them ‘hug buddies’ to cuddle with.
Basically, if you need a hug or someone warm and affectionate to cuddle with, Cuddle Party is the place to go!
The idea of giving people cuddles as a service is a unique concept in itself. It’s disrupting the social stigmas and inhibitions around love and warmth by making it accessible.
Just shows you how there is a target market for many.
This business specializes in pet furniture, like dog and cat beds. Their goal is to help you buy a pet bed you never need to replace, which means you’ll only have to buy one bed for your pet’s whole life.
What separates this business from the rest is that it donates one bed to a child in need in the developing world, for every pet bed someone buys. So clearly, there’s a social good element to each purchase making customers feel great.
Skillshare offers numerous online courses so you can improve or learn new skills. They offer everything from entrepreneurship, cooking to online language classes.
What makes them stand out is their incredibly low price of under $10.00 per month which gives you access to over 29K classes.
